Are you ever worried about consuming soda because you’ve heard that they can have a negative impact on your overall health? Did you know that sodas can also damage your gums and teeth?
While damaging your teeth may not seem like a terrible problem, did you know that studies have shown that Americans drink more soda than they have in the past? You see, soda contains high levels of acids that can eventually break down the enamel on your teeth. Enamel is the outer layer of your teeth that protects your teeth. Once your enamel is gone or worn away, your body can’t grow it back. To make matters worse, if your enamel is gone, this makes you more vulnerable to tooth decay and gum disease.
There are a number of things you can do to protect your teeth from the harmful effects of soda. Flossing and brushing after you drink soda could help protect your teeth and gums, but please wait a minimum of 30 minutes before you try to brush or floss. This is important because the acid in soda will weaken your enamel, and if you try to brush while your enamel is in a weakened state, you could cause damage. We also recommend rinsing your mouth with water right after you drink a soda. You could also avoid drinking soda altogether. You could also consider replacing your soda with water, tea, kombucha, and pure juices.
